Antique bookcase refers to objects of furniture that are quite similar to horizontal shelves or vertical shelves that are used to store books. In earlier times when people used to write books there was no specific place to store them.

This was because in those times there were not many books written as the general awareness of how to write was what to write was oblivious.

After the knack of writing spread people started storing their books and papers in small containers in order to keep it safe from water and other spoilage material.

They were stored in safe containers as there used to be times when the need to carry them around would arise. However, as times changed and people started accumulating more numbers of books they were piled up on shelves or in cupboards.

As peoples mind developed they preferred to make cupboards that dint have doors as it was then easy to remove and check out the collection of books from far off.

Most of the individuals set their books up in piles upon their sides, or sometimes even upright. They were arranged in such a manner that their backs would face the wall and their edges outwards.

There would be a thick layer of leather that had the name of the book written and sometimes even the inscription of the title was included.

There are plenty antique bookcases available in all designs and styles. In earlier times there used to be special designers and manufacturers who crafted such magnificent pieces of frames, which were outfitted with great appeal and classiness.

There were several artisans who were engaged in crafting highly successful small ornamental cases.

The most popular choices in the recent times are the mahogany, rosewood satinwood. Most of the museums also store such exquisite pieces for the visitors to gaze at.
